A Legacy Gift Makes a Lasting Impact

Become a Legacy Circle Member

Make enhancing the quality of life in our community your lasting legacy! Become part of Overland Park's story.

We all know what an outstanding community we live in. The Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, and public art installations add to the quality of life we enjoy today.

  • We find beauty and peace hiking trails and strolling breathtaking gardens at the Arboretum.
  • We delight in watching children and grandchildren coming face to face with baby goats at the Farmstead.
  • Art uplifts our spirits everyday.

Ensuring that these cultural amenities continue to bring joy for generations to come is something we can all help make happen. We invite you to consider thoughtfully making a planned gift to the Arts & Recreation Foundation of Overland Park for the benefit of one or all of the community assets the foundation supports. It costs you nothing now, but the impact of your gift will live on for years to come!

What is a planned gift?

A planned gift is a gift from your estate. The simplest way to make a planned gift is to include a contribution in your will.

Life insurance policies, charitable trusts, IRA distributions, donation of appreciated stock, and charitable gift annuities are other options. In many cases, these offer tax advantages to the donor.

Inspire others!

We invite you to become a member of the Overland Park Legacy Circle to make a lasting impact on our community . . . and inspire others to follow in your footsteps. Members are those who have included support of the Arboretum, Deanna Rose, and/or public art through a planned gift to the Arts & Recreation Foundation of Overland Park. Joining is simple - return this DECLARATION OF INTENT with as much or as little information as you wish to share, and you will become a member.

How do I include a gift in my will?

The following is sample language to include in your will to make a bequest.

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to The Arts & Recreation Foundation of Overland Park, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, or its successors in interest, located at 8500 Santa Fe, Overland Park, KS 66212, the sum of $____ (amount written out) or ____ % of estate, to be used exclusively for the benefit of __________________________________ (fill in "the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens" or "Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead" or "public art in the City of Overland Park").

Why Georgia is Giving

Over the years, I have watched the seeds being planted and the gardens mature at the Arboretum - growing into a beautiful, welcoming place for our community. By providing for the Arboretum in my will, I am leaving an inheritance for all who treasure what beauty and nature bring to our lives.

The Impact of Ben's Gift

During his lifetime, Ben Craig gave of himself to Overland Park in so many ways. And Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead was definitely one of his loves. Ben's legacy gift to the community was bequeathing funds to the Arts & Rec Foundation that would be available for "Main Street" at the Farmstead for upkeep and repairs. This thoughtful gift helps ensure that Ben's Bank, Vic's General Store, Alex & Emily's Ice Cream Shop, and the other Main Street attractions will be in tiptop condition for all to enjoy for years to come.
