Botanical Brewfest FAQ

Know before you go!

Find the answers to your most frequently asked questions about Botanical Brewfest to plan your visit…

What should I wear?

Be comfortable. We call it garden casual. Comfortable shoes are a must. Remember, we are outside and some of the ground is uneven, so thin heels might not be a good choice.

What do I need to bring to the event?

Your ticket; please download, screenshot, or print your ticket in advance as wifi is spotty in the gardens. It will have a QR code for us to scan. A valid federal or state-issued ID that is current. Attendees that do not have their ticket and their ID will not be permitted into the event, no refunds will be given.

How many beers will there be available for tasting?

More than you can try in 4 hours will be available! 25 breweries will be offering 3-4 varieties each. Visit our homepage to review the full vendor list!

What if I don’t like beer?

Select breweries will be offering hard seltzers, pre-made cocktail drinks, and hop-waters. Bottled water will also be available.

Can I take beer out of the Brewfest?

No, not in any form.

Will there be food? Does it cost extra?

We will have 6 restaurants represented at the Brewfest: Taco Naco, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Duck Donuts, Werner’s Fine Sausages, Pretzel Boys KC, and Popculture Popcorn. Your tickets include food from all of them. Once in the event, we don’t charge you again for amenities.

Do you have a designated driver’s ticket or a non-drinker ticket?

No, we do not. Non-drinkers can enjoy the restaurants, entertainment and, non-alcoholic products. We feel the value of those amenities meets or exceeds the ticket price. Feel free to leave your car overnight, we will not tow or ticket it. We want you to make safe choices.

Where do I park? How much is it to park?

Paved parking is available at the Arboretum in front of LongHouse, the new visitor center. Once paved parking is full, you may be directed to other overflow lots onsite. Parking is always free. Ride-sharing is always welcomed and encouraged, but feel free to leave your car overnight, we will not tow or ticket it. We want you to make safe choices.

What if it rains?

The event is weather permitting. This is a fundraiser for Friends of the Arboretum. No Refunds. General policy is that all events are held rain or shine, with the exception of severe/dangerous conditions. Guest safety is our primary concern. When severe weather conditions exist, we may choose to delay or cancel the event. If a weather-related delay is needed during an event, we will communicate decisions to guests via public address system, event staff & volunteers, and social media.

Guests may be asked to evacuate the event. When and if the event reopens, it will be determined on a case-by-case scenario depending on time of day, weather forecast, and whether the venue is deemed safe.

Could tickets sell out?

Yes, they could! In order to maintain guest experience we limit ticket sales. Long lines at a party don’t sound like much fun, and we want you to have a good time. Purchase online in advance.

Do you offer group rates?

No, we do not. We do offer discounts for Friends of the Arboretum members.

Can I buy tickets at the gate?

Tickets are best purchased in advance online, because they are limited in quantity and may sell out. However, we will provide QR codes onsite to purchase tickets at the door if stock is still available. If you have trouble buying tickets online and aren’t able to complete your purchase, you can call our office for assistance, 913.322.6467.

Can I bring my child to the Brewest?

No, no one under 21 will be permitted into the Brewfest. This includes infants. Please make arrangements for all children prior to attending the festival. Anyone with a child will not be admitted, no exceptions. No refunds will be given for not being aware of this policy.

Can I bring my dog?

Sorry, no pets are allowed in the gardens, with the exception of registered service animals.

I use a wheelchair, will I be able to enjoy this event?

Yes, 99% of the event is wheelchair friendly and we make every effort to be as inclusive as possible. All of the tents are near a sidewalk and in reach. Our sidewalk grade is also well under the maximum deemed by the ADA. We will also have wheelchair friendly restrooms for your use.
