Champion Trees at the Overland Park Arboretum

Most of us love big trees. Jim Earnest will give a one-hour presentation on the largest of the 24 species of Arboretum trees, including giant cottonwoods and sycamores, beautiful oaks and hickories along with many others. He will show you where to find these special trees at the Arboretum. Included with admission.

Greeter Training

Artisan at the Garden

Come support, local artists, as they display and sell their hand-made products. Gift selections include jewelry, accessories, pottery, art and apparel. National Day of Unplugging

March 7 @ 8:00 am

Wander where the Wi-Fi is weak during the National Day of Unplugging. Tens of thousands of people pledge to take a 24-hour respite from technology on this day. Why not join them at the Arboretum? Guests will be invited to put smartphones in “sleeping bags” and explore miles of trails, dozens of art installations, and more than 800 plant species. Cell phone “sleeping bags” are available, one per guest, while supplies last. Included with admission.

Create a Wildlife Refuge in Your Backyard

Learn to create a wildlife refuge in your own backyard. This program focuses on the four elements of a backyard refuge. We will discuss each of these elements in some detail and provide examples, photos, and suggestions on how to create each of these elements in your own backyard. This presentation will especially focus on the bird-related aspects of each of the elements needed for an effective and beautiful wildlife refuge. Included with admission. Register online.

Forest Bathing & Yoga with Amanda
