Friends of Arts Winter Newsletter

During the pandemic, we searched out places to walk with family and friends, or simply to escape the sterile screens that continue to distract us. We discovered the advantages of living in a community that values public art programming and parks that provide us with a social destination to have those face-to-face interactions The Arts can transform public spaces and studies show that public art can improve overall mental well-being and foster a sense of communal ownership over space.

Friends of Overland Park Arts is committed to not only enrich the lives of our residents through the arts but also to become your primary guide to the arts in Overland Park.

Last month we closed out a year of programming with the holiday classic performance of the Nutcracker. Attracting families from across the city and region, the Nutcracker Tea Party remains one of the most cherished and time-honored traditions in Overland Park.

To kick off the 2023 year we are pleased to present you with another superb classic. In collaboration with the Overland Park Orchestra, this March 4th we bring you the spellbinding music of Carmen. Visit the link for more details and to purchase your tickets before its too late.

And don’t forget to check out our Art at the Center series featuring the work of local artists. Local painter, Anne Garney, finishes out the month with her exhibit, “Colorful Landscapes”.
