Friends of the Arboretum October Newsletter

Dear Friends,

As I am writing this message in the middle of October, it is clear to me that fall is here. But it was just a week ago that is was rather warm outside — I certainly wasn’t sure what fall had planned. I always enjoy seeing the last of the summer annuals giving it one last go. The cooler temperatures seem to make the faded summer blooms more colorful and vibrant alongside the mums and other fall plantings.

I wanted to take this opportunity to get ahead of the holiday messaging and remind our member Friends that there are a lot of ways to ‘gift’ the Arboretum this holiday with friends and loved ones. As an early holiday gift, purchase tickets for someone close to you so they can enjoy one of our holiday lighting events. This year we have added more nights to the mix. There are the ever-popular evenings with candles for families and adults-only. And new this year—we are providing more days to come out to the gardens and enjoy the season with electric-only evenings—a scaled-back version of our traditional luminary event. Visit our events page for all the details. And don’t forget to purchase tickets for you and your family, too!

Beyond gifting tickets to our lighting events, share the love you have for the gardens and give the gift of membership or consider purchasing a garden space or bench for a loved one so they can take in all the gardens have to offer throughout the seasons. Click the links to learn more:
