Friends of the Arboretum March Newsletter

Dear Friends,

Winter is on the way out and spring is beginning! That’s great news for a lot of us who like to get outside and enjoy nature. Whether you are mowing, planting flowers, cleaning out last year’s garden beds or just enjoying a walk, spring is a great time of year – And your Arboretum is a great place to visit this time of year as well. The gardens are blooming and the trails are just waiting for your visit.

More outdoor opportunities await beyond visiting and volunteering at the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Consider joining our summer team! We offer internships for anyone enrolled in a degree program with a concentration in horticulture, plant sciences, or related fields. These paid positions provide hands-on experience alongside our Horticulturalist, Anne Wildeboor, and the opportunity to engage with staff, volunteers, and visitors. Non-students can also enjoy summer roles, such as Gardeners, Laborers, and Point of Sale Attendants, interacting with our vibrant community and LongHouse Visitor Center.

For anyone interested in any of these positions, find more information by visiting the Overland Park Jobs Website.

Upcoming events and programs at your Arboretum include Free Discovery Days, Bird Walks, Beekeeping Workshops, Moss Workshops, Wine Tasting on the Terrace, Biergarten Thursdays, and the Annual Spring Plant Sale April 26-28 (with FOTA Members getting exclusive early shopping access on Thursday, April 25 from 2-8pm!) Check out our full calendar for all the programs and events:
