When and where is the Spring Plant Sale?
The Spring Plant Sale takes place at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens (8909 W. 179th St., Overland Park, KS 66013) in front of LongHouse Visitor Center. Shopping tents are set up in the parking lot.

Do I need a ticket or pay admission to attend?
No ticket or garden admission is required to shop the Spring Plant Sale. Come ready to browse and buy!
After your shopping spree, we invite you to explore the rest of the Arboretum’s beautiful gardens. Daily admission can be purchased inside the Gift Shop at LongHouse Visitor Center or bought online in advance.

How does the sale support the Arboretum?
Every purchase supports Friends of the Arboretum, the nonprofit group dedicated to enhancing and preserving the Arboretum for generations to come. Proceeds from the sale help fund garden improvements, educational programs, and vital conservation efforts.
When you shop, you’re not just buying plants, you’re planting seeds of support for your community!
Is there an early shopping opportunity for members?
Yes! Friends of the Arboretum members get exclusive early access to shop on Thursday, April 24 from 2-8 PM, before the sale opens to the public.

Please note: Early access is weather-permitting and will not be rescheduled in the event of a delay or cancellation due to severe weather.
Will there be help available if I have gardening questions?
Absolutely! Our team of master gardeners and staff will be available on-site to answer questions and offer plant advice. We love helping you find the perfect fit for your garden.
What about the weather?
The Spring Plant Sale is weather-permitting. Guest safety is our primary concern. If severe weather conditions arise, we may delay or cancel the event to ensure the safety of our guests, volunteers, and staff.
How will I know if there’s a delay or cancellation?

If severe weather conditions develop during the event, staff and volunteers will communicate via the public address system or one-on-one to let you know if the event is paused but expected to resume, or if it has been canceled.

In the case of severe weather, guests may be asked to take shelter on-site or in their vehicles, or to evacuate the venue, depending on the situation.

For guests who are not yet on-site, staff will communicate the situation via the event website, email, and social media. We strongly encourage all guests to stay alert for updates, especially when weather conditions are uncertain.

What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept credit cards, debit cards, and cash.
Will food and drinks be available?
Yes! You can visit Café Celeste, located at the south end of LongHouse Visitor Center, where they’ll be serving a variety of breakfast, lunch, and snack items, along with coffee, tea, and other beverages.
Garden admission is not required to enter and enjoy the LongHouse Visitor Center amenities, including the café, restrooms, and gift shop.
Can I volunteer for the sale?
Yes, we’d love your help! Volunteers assist with setup, plant organizing, checkout, and guest support. Email fota@artsandrec-op.org to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
