Leadership and Governance

A 15-person Board of Directors governs the Foundation. Included on the Board are the Chairmen of the Friends Executive Committees who serve ex officio with voice and vote. Also serving ex officio with voice, but not vote, is the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Overland Park. The current officers of the Foundation are:

  President:  Vicki M. Lilly
  Development Vice President:  Wayne Byrd
  Community Relations Vice President:  Georgia K. Erickson
  Secretary:  Nancy Yates
  Treasurer:  David Morgenson, C.P.A.

Foundation staff includes: Teresa Stohs, Executive Director and Norma Friend, Bookkeeper.

Stewardship

The Arts and Recreation Foundation of Overland Park adheres to the Standards for Charity Accountability of the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance.

Donor Edge

The Foundation and the Friends groups participate in the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation DonorEdge® initiative that collects objective information about targeted nonprofit organizations and makes it available online at www.donoredge.org. DonorEdge® helps anyone connect quickly and easily with the charitable causes important to them. The information displayed on each organization's online profile falls into three major categories: program performance, management and governance, and financial soundness.

Memberships and volunteer opportunities are available through its Friends groups

The Foundation Board of Directors is responsible for all major fundraising and provides oversight for the Friends groups’ activities which include:

  • Promotions and Community Outreach
  • Projects and Educational Programs
