2017 is going to be a busy year doing what we have been doing for over 20 years – enhancing great places to visit (the Arboretum and Deanna Rose, of course!) and creating memorable experiences for the whole family. Volunteers and staff are already at work on the 2017 versions of our signature annual events the community has grown to love –
- The Spring Plant Sale, Enchanted Forest, Stems: A Garden Soirée, Botanical Brewfest and Luminary Walk at the Arboretum,
- Georgia’s Chicken Run, Moon Shine on the Farm, Pumpkin Hollow, and Night of the Living Farm at the Farmstead,
- The Overland Park Mayor’s Golf Tournament, and
- Friends of Arts’ presentations of the Plein Air Paint Festival and the Nutcracker Tea Party!
But before we kick into high gear with those great events, we’re looking forward to the Felted Forms exhibit at the Arboretum opening on February 11, helping the staff at Deanna Rose open for its 39th season on April 1, and coming closer to reaching our goal of raising $10M to build the new 22,000 sq. ft. Visitor Center and Phase 1 of the sculpture garden at the Arboretum.
We invite you to join our Friends groups and check back with us throughout the year to learn more about all our activities and everything we are doing to make Overland Park a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family. And if it’s a sunny day this month, treat yourself to a walk at the Arboretum – it may not be growing season, but the winter landscape is beautiful, and it will feel so good to be outdoors!
