Mural Details:
Women Mural: The proposed mural by JT Daniels is located behind 10,000 Villages store. They are a fair trade business and sell fair trade crafts from Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. From JT, “My design does showcase women from varied cultures, a few of which are represented heavily within the store that fosters fair trade items from these countries, where the money provides for their families & etc. The background in the mural is the former logo for the organization, just repeated and spread out across the wall, to reflect the idea of 10,000 villages and how these people are interconnected.”Penzey’s 4-part mural: This mural represents the work of four artists – Isaac Tapia, Aaron Sutton, Emily Alvarez, and Rodrigo Alvarez. The images abstractly symbolize a multiracial community, its cooperation, creativity, relationship to the earth, hopes and dreams.Bird mural: The mural at the corner of 80th and Conser is designed by Donald “Scribe” Ross and depicts a Meadowlark, the state bird of Kansas.Fish Mural: The proposed mural on the side of InterUrban ArtHouse at the corner of 80th/Conser depicts a colorful Bluegill fish which is one of the most common fish in the state of Kansas! -
