First-Time Visitors Find Arboretum Fun for Grandkids

Grandparents Connie and Al are always looking for opportunities to introduce their grandchildren to interesting places throughout the metro area. They discovered the Arboretum through a friend and took their two grandchildren, ages 11 and 13, there for the first time this summer.

“Even though we live in Missouri, it doesn’t take us any longer to get to the Arboretum than it does to get to other great attractions in this area,” Al said.

Upon arrival, Connie and Al realized they hadn’t planned nearly enough time for their grandkids to enjoy all the Arboretum offers. They took in the Train, Monet and Water Gardens, and everyone is excited to explore the hiking trails on their next visit.

“We’ve been in the Kansas City area for more than 50 years and I can’t believe we’ve never been to this hidden gem,” Connie said. “I was surprised by the beauty, size and incredible care the Arboretum receives from its volunteers. We’re definitely coming back with our grandkids this fall.”
