Paul likes to take his grandkids to the Overland Park Arboretum because it’s a place they can unplug from technology and connect with him.
He takes care of his grandkids after school several times a week and, during that time, they go device-free.
“I want my grandkids to ‘get out of the noise’ that surrounds them daily and decompress during their time with me,” Paul said.
The whole group discovers more during visits to the Arboretum than they could on Google.
“They love to walk the trails and find new ways in and around the paths,” Paul said. “It’s during those special times at the Arboretum that we can talk without outside distractions. Often, I learn more from them than they do from me, and that’s okay. I just love that we’re connecting one-on-one.”
